W. Aurora finds help over Elgin

Mike Odumuyiwa came to play and West Aurora finally looked likethe team everyone said it was.

The two events are not coincidental.

Odumuyiwa, a 6-6 senior, scored 16 points and added 11 reboundsas West Aurora (4-1, 1-0) clipped Elgin 59-52 Friday night in theUpstate Eight in Elgin.

"We did a good job of controlling Mike Simmons and BillyTaylor," Elgin coach Jim Harrington said. "But big Mike Odumuyiwacame to play tonight."

"Mike was struggling at the Lockport tournament but he camearound tonight," West Aurora coach Gordie Kerkman said. "I thinkhe'll be a different player from here on out."
