Fed: Lees says election should be held on Telstra issue

Australian Progressive Alliance Senator MEG LEES says the public should be given thechance to have a say on the possible full sale of Telstra at a federal election.

Senator LEES has indicated she'll vote against the full sale of Telstra in the Senate, further raising the possibility of a double dissolution election.

She's told ABC radio she's unhappy with the government's plan to spend the proceedsof the sale of Telstra on reducing debt.

She believes the money should be spent on the environment and on infrastructure projects.

Meanwhile New South Wales Liberal MP ALBY SCHULTZ, who's said he may abstain on a parliamentaryvote on the Telstra sale, says a survey of residents in his rural electorate of Humewould probably show they support his stance.
