Health Canada stops sales of Adderall.(Government)

WASHINGTON -- The Food and Drug Administration says it is engaged in close consultation with Health Canada concerning the latter's decision to suspend sales--but not revoke approval--of the drug Adderall as a treatment for attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), the most commonly diagnosed psychiatric drug among school-age children.

The American agency says it does not believe that any "immediate" changes are warranted in the FDA labeling or approved use of the drug based on its preliminary understanding of both Health Canada's analyses of adverse-event reports as well as its own assessment of such reports.
